| Most memorable thought/quote from the book: | • While the story around Gibson and his reasons for chef for Monster was good – how he slipped into cocaine addiction and his fights to struggle back, but because of the Monster character so MJ like you knew what was really looking on and this part at times took over the story for me and became a little too predictable • It was gritty at times, but you did empathize with the characters, it was dark, but then had its light moments especially when describing the environment/gardening • Gibson is the narrator of the story and it is through him that we see the character types that Jervey presented in his earlier works – flawed humans that get themselves into sometime tragic situations |
