Beatriz I am so sorry I was not invested in time and monies back two years ago to fulfill my dream of writing. Now I am so much closer. I am a book reviewer for three different organizations and a very much avid reader. So thank you so much for welcoming me and I am back. Loving the 30 books in 90 day challenge.... Blessings.

*IF YOU HAVE A BOOK THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO PUBLISH .
What's up? I had to find a way and get at you.My broke my phone and didn't back up the numbers. When you get a minute give me a call. Hope all is well and you have a good day.
I know I've been MIA for a minute and I did promise more tips on your book covers!..my apologies I was off getting married, so now back to business.
Here is what I think is one of the first considerations for any design: your audience. Who are you trying to reach?, what is the demographic? what appeals your audience? Yes, I know this might sound like Sales 101, but most of those principles apply here too, and aren't we trying to sell books here? You have to consider all the things that will make your book cover appealing to your target audience. From this one set of decisions many more will develop, things like the style of photography, illustration, font, font size, and colors used. Just like it is very easy to distinguish a children's book before even picking it up, there are design tools and visual cues that make other book genres just as easily distinguishable and recognizable. Stay tuned more pointers next month.
As you know, I am the Art Director for Written. I experience my life visually, even to the point of nauseating my friends when I start critiquing the menu design at restaurants. So my reason for posting today is book covers ––– specifically Self-pub book covers!! PEOPLE, PEOPLE do yourselves a favor put some well deserved thought into your covers. It is the first impression you make. Do not have your cousin, Pookie draw you a cover, or your best friend's girl who has Printshop 'design' you a cover. Stay tuned periodically I'll post some pointers to help you land a great cover.
Well Written went to BEA (Book Expo of America) this year in L.A. and we made a splash! It was my first time attending BEA and although it was a lot of work it was a BLAST. I got to meet a ton of my favorite authors and hang out with some very cool folks . . . also it didn't hurt that I scored a bunch of free books!....lol . . .well, you know, that reading addiction has to be supported...
I wanted to share some of my pics from BEA, feel free to take a look.
