Wine and Words #1 – An evening with RM Johnson

 Hammonds House Museum and Written magazine kick off our fall 2009 literary schedule with the phenomenal author RM Johnson.

Mr. Johnson is the author of seven novels: Love Frustration, Do You Take This Woman, Stacie & Cole, and most recently his series The Million Dollar Divorce, The Million Dollar Deception and his most recent fiction release The Million Dollar Demise. RM also penned a controversial nonfiction work, Why Men Fear Marriage: the surprising truth behind why so many men can’t commit. 

 Wine and Word is a unique cultural experience. Come early for the Readers Roundup Game to win wonderful prizes. RM will mix and mingle with the crowd before our conversation. Feel free to ask one on one questions, get all of your books signed and take pictures in the Hammonds House’s picturesque garden. Enjoy the provided wine and light food fare. RM’s latest releases, The Million Dollar Demiseand Why Men Fear Marriage, will be available for purchase.

Wine and Words #2 – A Family Affair

Author and journalist Gil Robertson is one of the leading anthropologists of African American life. His first anthology, Not In My Family: AIDS in the African American community explored through essay the complicated impact that this debilitating disease has had on Black America. His second work, Family Affair: What it means to be African American today is an eclectic collection of voices that mirror the vast Diaspora of the African American community.

Join Gil and Family Affair contributors Bunnie Ransom Jackson, Kelley Jackson, Raegan Burden, Venus Bivens, Michelle Falconer as we have a conversation about the evolution of our culture.

Cave Canem is a home for the many voices of African American poetry and is committed to cultivating the artistic and professional growth of African American poets. Join our local Cave Canem poets Lita Hooper, Opal Moore and Nagueyalti Warren.
