There is a battle of ideology being waged on the virtual pages of Time Magazine and rather than be on the sideline, I have decided to take a side.
Sierra Mannie (@SKEEerra) had an article republished in Time titled Dear White Gays: Stop Stealing Black Female Culture. In it, she expressed her annoyance with white gay men mimicking and mocking the best and worst of Black culture that they see in Black women.
I wonder if Mr. Friess knew he came across as pleading with Black women to shelter white gay men in their bosom so they can be safe from what straight men do to them and in return Black women can like how they dress.
And since, in Mr. Friess opinion, Black men have abandon Black women, gay white men are all black women have left. Here is note for you Mr. Friess: your entitlement is showing. Mr. Friess’ article is the reason why Ms Mannie wrote her article. You do not get to make fun of Black Women and then say we are allies. And your feeble attempt to create an alliance was code for “please don’t tell white men what we cannot do”. If an alliance existed, your article would have said, Ms Mannie is right, so stop perpetuating stereotypes that damage Black women. Instead it underscored that white gay men and Black women have no shared experiences. None.
